Our Journey
Vikas Bharti, Bishunpur emerged through the people’s movement in the year of 1982 and then turned out to be as Non Government Organisation in 1983 under the society registration act of 1860. The organisation has its origin at Bishunpur block of undivided Bihar later on in the state of Jharkhand. The organisation has worked closely in partnership with the Government and other supporting agencies for transforming human lives and tribal communities across the state of Bihar. Vikas Bharti started to work for the community by making them aware of health and sanitation. Gradually the behavioral pattern of the primitive tribes began to change. People started realizing the importance of natural resources like water, forest, land, and animals. Crop cultivation began, and communities were educated on the sustainable utilization and proper management of these resources to meet social, ecological, economic, and cultural needs.
Post State Formation
After the formation of Jharkhand in 2000, the organization started collaborating closely with the state government and various national and international partners across Education, Livelihood, Health, and Community Empowerment projects. Over time, Vikas Bharti has established strong partnerships, aligned visions for inclusive development, and currently runs over 50 impactful projects with the support of government bodies and international funding agencies. The organization’s achievements were nationally recognized with the conferment of the Padma Shri award to its Secretary and Social Activist Sri Ashok Bhagat in 2015 by the Government of India.
